April 11th, The Railhead, Lawton, OK
With Dead Core
REVIEW
by Travis Inselman
let's start this review where every show must start... the venue... we played at the railhead in lawton... and i shit you not when i say that this is one of the TOP venues i have EVER played at... the bar itself is just perfectly set up for live music... the stage is fucking killer, the lights are awesome, and the drinks are cheap. kay is one hell of a person, completely cool and willing to help however she could. and doug is a badass sound man... we CANNOT wait to go back and rock this place again! the venue and the unbelievable fans made it WELL worth the drive!
now for the the bands - bangladesh... wasn't there... so we'll move on to us... we played what has to have been one of our hardest and heaviest sets to date, and had a killer time doing it. like i said, doug had us sounding like fucking champs and we were high energy. the crowd seemed to dig what we were doing and slowly worked their way to the stage throughout the show, and were gettin down up front by the time we tuned down. not our tightest show, but definitely one of our most entertaining! we even had lingerie bunnies dancing on stage with us during "Shocker". (see pics)
and now for deadcore - let me just say.... holy fucking goddamn hell!!!!! this is THE MOST high energy band we have ever played with... right off the bat the onstage antics began, caught your attention and never stopped!!! i was BLOWN AWAY by their live show... but here's the catch... the music was... just as fucking good! these guys are so damn awesome, and just good people to boot... we had a blast sharing the stage with them, and even more so partying after, and are already planning on bringing them our way to do it again! highlights of the show for me (travis)... their completely killer cover of "baby got back" during which EVERY WOMAN IN THE BAR joined them onstage... and the programmer / sampler / whatever you call him winding up on the bass players shoulders before the first chorus of the first song..... it was insane
also at this show was our good friends from shadows productions... the good reverand angelwitch was spinning between bands dressed like a columbian drug lord and pimpin the suit hardcore...but get this... the songs he was playing ALL NIGHT... all LOCAL BANDS... nobody supports local music quite like that, and we thank him so much... the lovely lady spell led the bunnies while looking quite fantastic, and the rest of the shadows crew just added to the fun and eccentricity of the whole night... i refuse to give anything away, but i will say, talks are already in the works with them for a live event... it was awesome getting to spend time with our friends again!
so there you have it... railhead - badass! ... deadcore - badass! ... shadows productions - badass! ... and 13 cent.... well, you already know that one
